Spellings

Spring Term Spellings!

Now we have entered the Spring Term, the children are thriving in their more formal learning environment. We feel they are now ready to practise spellings and have an informal weekly test. 

We send spellings out with the children's homework slip every Friday. We then have an informal spellings check on  a Tuesday afternoon. 

As it is a target for the cohort, we have focused on 'tricky word' spellings as they are not phonetically decodable. However if you wish to further challenge your child with their spellings, at the bottom of the Little Wandle weekly overview home learning sheets there are a set of phonetically decodable words which have graphemes that the children have learnt in school that week. 

 

Below, you will find a half-termly overview of the spellings we have worked on. 

Spellings - Summer Term 

 

During the summer term we are continuing to focus on our 'tricky words' in our spellings tests. Some children will also be bringing home extra spellings this term focusing on sounds we have been learning in our daily phonic sessions.
