Year 4 Weekly Music Lessons

We have been lucky enough to have a music expert come into school and teach the whole of Year 4 music skills.  Year 4 have been learning these skills on trombones and cornets.  Mrs Braverman has been teaching the children notation, compositions, improvisation and performance skills. The children are thoroughly enjoying the experience of using trombones and cornets and the rest of the school are looking forward to hearing them perform at the end of this term.

Choir

Choir practice each Friday lunchtime with Mrs Jackson and Mr Dixon.  They have been learning new warm-up activities, how to follow a conductor, singing in different arrangements and performing skills.  The children have performed to the whole school and in the local community at church and are about to join other children's choirs to sing at the Eccleshall Christmas Tree Festival.

Peripatetic Music

In school we want to give the children the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and we do this with the expertise of peripatetic music teachers. The children are given the opportunity to learn piano with Mrs Braverman, violin with Mr Parkes and guitar with Mr Docherty.  We are looking forward to hearing and seeing their progress throughout the year.

Singing Club

Our school choir has been long established and we feel that it is important to encourage and foster these skills from the youngest of children, therefore we have started a singing club to engage with any budding singers from EYFS and Key Stage 1 before they move into choir.  Here we are building their love for singing and teaching them the basic skills of singing together as one.
