PSHE
On Thursday 26th September we had visitors into school who are our School Travel Advisors. They spoke to us about air pollution and how we can make more sustainable choices about how we travel to and from school. We made our own superheroes and gave them special powers to improve air pollution! It was great fun!
In art, we have been looking at the artist 'Molly Husland'. We have been inspired by her work and decided to create some of our own work using spirals. Molly's trademark is to be always wearing grey and using no colour but we decided that we wanted to explore colours and use the wax crayons which we had never used before.
In science we have been learning about different materials.
George The windows are made from glass.
Freddie- The chair is plastic and metal!
Isla- Mae - The desk is wood.
We have then learnt how to describe these materials by looking at their properties. We read the range of books 'That's not my...' and spotted for the scientific description words. For example 'That's not my tractor, it is too rough!' We then went outside and played 'that's not my rocket' and put the window on different material backgrounds.
On the 20th September we were lucky enough to have our PE session run by Eccleshall Rugby Club! They set up a carousel of activities and the children had SO much fun!
Head down to Eccleshall Rugby club for more fun extra curricular activities!
This half term our topic is to learn about our local area. We decided to go on a walk around the local area to see what we could find. We located the: church, post office, new fire station as well as the old fire station. We also followed a map which we have learnt to use if we need directions!
We have also learnt about a compass and the different directions. NORTH SOUTH EAST AND WEST!
Ask your child if they can remember them!
Science- Materials
In Science we have started our new topic "Materials". We have learnt the names of different types of materials and their properties. Today we have been on a material hunt around the school to find things made from different materials. We created a tally chart to show our results.
