A Church of England Primary Academy
Parts of our school’s land and buildings are owned by a charitable church trust, and the church has the right, and duty, to appoint ‘Foundation’ governors (about a quarter of the governing body).
The school is normally open to everyone within its community or defined ‘catchment’ area. However, if the school were to be over-subscribed, regular parental church attendance could be one of the factors considered in deciding a child’s admission to the school.
In addition to inspection by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), the school is subject to ‘Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools’ (SIAS) to ensure that it continues to meet the requirements of its foundation.
Bishop Lonsdale is a church school, under the auspices of the Lichfield Diocesan Board of Education, and has close links with Holy Trinity Church in Eccleshall. The school serves Eccleshall, Chebsey, Norton Bridge, Croxton, Offley Hay, Slindon and Ellenhall areas of the county.
