Links to support daily Phonics, Maths, Topic Ideas and a story

These are great daily home learning videos which have been produced by a teacher and can be accessed through You Tube.  Remember to pause the video to give time to carry out activities.  We suggest you break the video down into sections throughout the day rather than carrying out the activities in one session. 

Phonics

Each day begins with recapping our phase 2 phonics sounds when children can call out the letter sounds, followed by phase 3 phonics sounds.  High frequency words  (children will know these as 'tricky words') are spoken for children to practise writing as well as pictures to encourage sentence writing.  You could use your star sentence book to write your sentences and words.  Finally sentences to practise reading - remember to pause to give your child time to sound out each word. 

Maths

Counting, number recognition and mathematical conceptions such as addition, subtraction, more or less including problem solving. 

Topic Activity

Suggestions for creative activities and knowledge of the world. 

Story

Daily story - ask your children questions during the story about characters, recapping what has happened so far, predicting what might happen next, which part is their favourite, who is their favourite character and why.
