Science - Colour Walk
This morning KS1 have been on a colour walk as part of our text this week, 'The Colour Monster'. We had a walk in nature and saw what different colours we could spot! We made predictions of which colours would be most or least popular then we sorted them into the sorting hoops to see if we were correct!
Science - Testing Materials
This afternoon, KS1 have been testing the properties of different materials. We conducted a test to find out if we could find the bendiest stick. We explored our school grounds and tested different sticks to see if we could spot any patterns. We then sorted the sticks into different piles, 'bendy', 'not bendy' and 'broken'. We found out that the bendiest sticks were thin and the most rigid sticks were thick.
Science - Egg Drop
This half term, KS1 have been learning about different materials in our Science lessons. This afternoon, we all went into the hall to test which materials would be best to protect an egg. We discussed which materials we predicted would be the most protective and which materials would be the least protective. We then collected different items from around the school to drop our eggs in. We dropped the eggs and observed whether the material had successfully protected the egg or not! It was lots of fun!
Science - Testing Materials
Today, KS1 have been testing different materials to see which ones would have the best properties for a parachute to protect our egg! We discussed which materials we thought would work best and then put them to the test!
Science - Testing Materials
Today, KS1 have been testing the bounciness of different materials as part of our Science topic. Last week, we learned all about Charles Dunlop and the invention of the tire. We worked together to create a fair test to test which materials would be best suited to making a tire. We tested sponge, plastic, foam, rubber and a tennis ball to see which ball would bounce the furthest. We discovered that the sponge ball bounced the furthest and the rubber ball bounced the least.
