Love from Miss Randall and Year 2 x

This term we will be working very hard on developing the children’s phonics and reading skills, as well as focusing on their wellbeing as they return to school after unusual times.  We appreciate your support with this and ask that you ensure no bags or pencil cases are brought into school. Children should only come to school with their reading folder, water bottle, coat and hat. Please ensure any coats, jumpers, cardigans or hats are labelled with your child’s name.  As always it is our aim to make our learning as fun and practical as possible to ignite your child’s passion for learning.  Further information regarding the Year 2 curriculum can be found in the attached curriculum web and will be made available in due course via our class webpage on the school’s website. However, if in the meantime you have any queries please do not hesitate to ask.

Autumn 2 Fire Topic

It would be very helpful if you could practise number bonds to 10, 20 and 100.

Hit the button is a great game to help your child with this.

Our class prayer

For this weeks spellings I have sent out a list of the year 1 and 2 common exception words. By the end of year 2 your children are expected to know all of these spellings, so if you could work your way through these spellings with your children it would help them enormously!

Isolating

If you are having to isolate at all then we will keep updating the sections below with the work we are currently doing in class.

Maths - There will be a word document with a link to a video PowerPoint similar to the one we will use in class but with voice over to support the learning and worksheets in relation to the learning.

English - As English is more varied we will write a summary of what we have done in class so you can support your children with similar activities at home.

Phonics - Please continue to practise your spellings as these will contain the graphemes used in phonics that week and focus on decoding and blending words while reading with your children.
